A few weeks ago, we received notice to vacate by March 31st, 2010.
We’ve elected to take on the move sooner rather than later.

Dinnerware Artspace has moved
out of 264 E. Congress.

Central Arts Gallery will also be moving and will close it’s doors at the current location, 274 E.Congress, this Saturday at 5pm.

Rocket Gallery will close it’s doors at 5pm this Saturday for the final time with a final showing of Jennifer LaBrie’s paintings.

Tooley’s Cafe and Gallery also closed 3 weeks ago.

Dinnerware Artspace and Central Arts Gallery are moving to The Citizens Warehouse, 44 W. Sixth Street.
This will be an interim location before moving again into a newly renovated warehouse at 1 E. Toole Avenue in 2010.

This is a great opportunity for The Citizens Warehouse to become a full fledge art center with art galleries, artist studios and innovative events.

Open Soon - Burger City

The long awaited reopening of Burger City in Tucson Arizona is just around the corner.  After an extended hiatus we are assured that everything is in line for downtown lunch diners to be able to enjoy fine burgers, roasted corn, and other all American foods while knowing that the funds spend go to supporting the mission of one of downtown Tucson’s most interesting arts organizations.

In a unique model of self sustainability, Tig Collins and the ArtFare Board of Directors put together a little block of entreprenueral industry which both employs artists in “day jobs” and gives the org a steady income stream to provide grants of space and equipment to artists and musicians.

Burger City will reopen with plenty of company from other ArtFare endeavors including Urban Artists Conservatory of Tucson, an arts education component, Kelly’s Market, food for the soul which will feature some sandwiches created in Burger City’s kitchen, 45 Walls – Muse Gallery, a contemporary arts gallery, and Tami’s Treasure House, a little shop of arts and collectibles.

We suggest you visit this little block and the arts organization that could at your earliest convenience.

The Hounds, featuring Tom Walbank and the Ambassadors and The Grand Royale.  November 21st.  21 and up concert.  Show starts at 9:30 pm.

“Reflections”, the latest exhibit at the Central Arts Gallery, will open Saturday, December 5 and continue through January 29, 2010. The cooperative gallery, located at 274 E. Congress, will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. for the artists’ reception, which is free and open to the public. Central Arts Gallery features the work of 15 local artists and is open noon – 5pm, Thursday – Saturday. For special events and more information check our website http://www.centralartsgallery.org.

Sometimes with all of the big announcements, a small shop opening gets lost in the shuffle.  But if you are downtown, be sure to visit the soon to be open Tami’s Treasure House.  Opening just in time for the holidays, Tami Countryman joins the ArtFare Block with Christmas ornaments, decorations, toys, whimsical gifts and more.  As with all ArtFare endeavors, Tami’s Treasure House donates their proceeds, after expenses, to the ArtFare Block.  Just one little arts organization working to stay off the public dole.   Please support their efforts which include the Muse Gallery – 45 Walls, Burger City, Kelly’s Market, Urban Artist Conservatory of Tucson and many many more arts centric offerings.

(Tucson, AZ – October 8, 2009) Beowulf Alley Theatre at 11 South 6^th Avenue, announces its newest program, Old Time Radio Theatre.

We take you back to another time…another place. Things were simpler then — or were they?

Join us on Tuesday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. for a FREE performance of our new Old Time Radio Theatre ensemble, under the direction of Sheldon Metz, who will present an episode of Gunsmoke as well as My Friend Irma. These performances usually only run about 1 hour total.

In months to come, we’ll be at the theatre a few times a month for evening and matinees performances, sharing nostalgic tales of days gone by the way the stories used to be told.

Tickets for performances at the theatre, beginning in November, are just $8 for the general public and $6 for Beowulf Alley Subscribers and Flex Pass Holders. Redondo Music Theatre (RMT) is pleased to present their 2009 season premiere event and fundraiser. “Lullabies of Broadway” opens September 13, 2009 at the Berger Auditorium, 1200 W. Speeday. The show starts at 3:00 pm, tickets are $20 at the door or by calling 1-888-349-4914.

This concert will feature memorable songs and music from such well-known Broadway shows as Cabaret, South Pacific, Sound of Music, West Side Story, and Fiddler on the Roof.

ArtFare Ballet

The traditions, work, and combinations of Mme. Mitrovich and Cecchetti Technique are at the core of the work we do, though we love choreographing original ballet with original music. We have also been greatly influenced by Mr. George Zoritch, Stephanie Stiegers and Jane Matty.  We’re grateful to our teacher Jose Valenzuela and his American Ballet Theater tradition and experience.  Nancy Gambion who taught Cecchetti Technique at Pima Community College has renewed and influenced our technique and more recently Carrie Ragsdale, also from Pima.

We cherish our work with children and are quartered in an environment conducive to children’s performances, our own works, and in the near future, a new ballet featuring one of the great Capoesristas.

ArtFare Ballet is also open to parent/senior volunteers with performance skills or those who wish to participate in weight bearing/stretch technique classes or other specialized works for all ages.  Participation to be determined by our teacher’s council.

The last ballet we performed “Scheherazade” featured two of our soloists and six local children.  Our goal is to not only expose children who might not have dance or high art in their experience (classical dance, music, drawing, painting, poetry, etc) but also to have these children participate. They learn as they go, making their own costumes, learning to get themselves on and off stage at the proper time, learning to try really hard.

The Arizona Consortium for the Arts is a start-up, nonprofit group dedicated to supporting and fostering artists and the arts in Arizona, including the literary, visual and performing arts.

The Blue Guitar, the arts and literary journal of the Arizona Consortium for the Arts, seeks submissions in all genres — fiction, poetry, plays, creative nonfiction — for its inaugural spring issue. Writers must submit original work and must live in Arizona.

Simultaneous submissions will be accepted, but the writer must notify the magazine as soon as possible if the work is accepted elsewhere. Submissions selected by the editor will appear in the magazine in print; other submissions may appear on the magazine’s Web site. Writers who are selected also will have the opportunity to read at the magazine’s launch in April.
