Advancing the Inner Artist: Texture and Layering

Using a variety of materials- gesso, plaster, paper, transfers, glues, and paints, as well as found textural elements- participants will experiment with numerous techniques to advance inner creativity through the elements of texture and layering. The process explored can be applied to artists’ books, paintings, sculpture, and all forms of mixed-media artwork.
Lin Fife is a tenured Professor of Visual Art, at the University of Colorado teaching in all areas of fibers/textiles, papermaking and artists’ books. She is known for her creative work in handmade paper and mixed-media installations, which have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her work is included in two books on contemporary papermaking and in several private and corporate collections. A native of Colorado, Lin Fife has travel extensively in the U.S., Mexico, Peru, Indonesia, Thailand, Greece, Turkey, and Australia.
